Special Olympics Missouri to host 15th Annual Polar Plunge


The 15th Annual Polar Plunge is set for February 12. According to a release, men and women from around the area will be in costumes and swimwear to take “polar dips” into a cold body of water in Simpson Park in Chillicothe. All proceeds from this year’s event will go toward training and competition for 1,200 Missouri athletes who participate in the Special Olympics in the north Missouri area.

The Polar Plunge is open to anyone ages 10 and older, with a Pee Wee Plunge for children ages nine and younger. The event is hosted by Chillicothe Correctional Center and registration begins at 11:30 a.m. the morning of the event (Feb. 15). The plunge will start promptly at 1 p.m.
